Wild West Day

What Do We Do with the Money?

Funds generated from the collaborative efforts of Wild West Day are divided amongst the nine elementary schools here in Eagle County. The money is dispersed through the individual school's PTAs and PTOs directly to the wish lists of the classrooms, teachers, and administration. The real winners who benefit from this huge affair are the children attending these schools.

Each school's PTA/PTO gathers a group of volunteers to head up an appropriations committee. This committee gathers wish lists from teachers and staff and divides the funds. Some of the large items purchased using WWD funds include: grade level overnight field trips, books, financial support for teacher supplies and development, assemblies, author visits, trips to museums and theatres, computer hardware and software, cameras, TVs, and VCRs, math and science manipulatives, art supplies and music activities such as "Jazz Goes to School", playground equipment and supplies, and countless items which support growth and learning for all of the children in Eagle County.
